This balance bike is ideal for little ones as they learn how to balance before they get to grips with a proper bike with pedals. The First Red Bike has a sturdy wooden structure, with easy grip handle bars, a bell and pneumatic tyres. Are your little tikes growing fast? Not to worry as the seat is height adjustable. Another feature is the convenient carry handle, making it easy to take the bike wherever you want. The First Balance Bike is ideal for teaching children balance and coordination as well as boosting their confidence.

When my daughter first used this bike she said "it's too wobbly" but every time she went out playing with her friends we would just casually leave it in full view and gradually she would use it more and more, she is now a whizz with her first bike and races her friends up and down the drive.
It's great that it has adjustable seat height so it can grow with your child, being red too means that my little boy will be able to use it once my daughter has outgrown it and the new addition of the bell is great for when her stearing means she is about to run someone over - she is only 3!
Would definitely recommend the first bike as a great introduction for bicycles, helps them to gain confidence and practice their balance before progressing to one with pedals.
Great bike, very good value... my 3 year old son loves it! seems well made, runs smoothly and looks comfortable for him...
Although the wheel nut has just come off! might be my fault for not tightening it enough? Hopefully a new one can be sent?!
We had a chance to test this bike with our Isabelle, and I think it is a fantastic product, of very high quality. Isabelle was over 4 years when she started practising on it, and I only wish she did have it much earlier, as it really helps with learning how to get your balance right on the bike. We are keeping it for our second baba, and would definitely recommned it. Here is a link to my review http://allbabyadvice-blog.com/index.php/2011/05/isabelle-testing-john-crane-first-balance-bike-2/
We bought this for our son's third birthday. He absolutely loves it, and I would say that a balance bike is probably our best toy purchase. However, I wish we had chosen a different brand. After 6 months use, the tyres disintegrated. John Crane said that wear and tear is to be expected, but did send us replacements, however after another 6 months the same thing happened again. The bike has now been sitting, unusable, in the garage since August. I had hoped, given that it was not a cheap toy, that it would have lasted not only the son we bought it for, but the next one too. Very disappointed.
My daghter absolutely loves her bike. However, we have also had the same problem with the tyres falling apart after about six months which has cost us £6 to replace. She won't be parted with it though and insists on riding on it regardless of broken wheel. A cycle helmet is a must though as she can go really fast!
Please contact customer service, as if the bike is not too old we will always replace the wheels for you, we appreciate things do break sometimes and have a full spares department to cope!
